Description

While staying in Crinan the decision was made to take a short easy and flat run in the morning. As luck would have it there's a canal which has a tow path. The path has been updated for the 2024 season ahead along much of the canal itself. So this is a good quality track to run on. The path goes all the way along the canal giving you a potential distance of
14 Kms
in one direction and so a
28 Kms
for the full out and back.
From the car park you have to cross one of the lock gates to get to the path. This is such a lovely run and even when you can see the path stretching out for ages in front of you the spirits stay high. The whole area seems to instill a certain amount of calmness into you and this route is part of it.
At
3.3 Kms
when arriving at the Bellanoch swing bridge you have an option of heading down the B8025 for a very straight road alongside the nature reserve which will eventually take you up close to Kilmartin. Too many historical sites to mention for a detour on this one.
Details last updated in May 2024.
