Description
Firstly this is a great and tough 10K. We arrived early and due to a delay in getting the numbers went for coffee and something to eat in the Kisa cafe which is also a sponsor of the race. Very nice. From there back to the hall to pick up the numbers, where everyone was super friendly. Actually all marshal's and helpers on this event were brilliant.
Race starts on a grassy field which we hate. This followed by a short section of very narrow path where you get boxed in. That's as bad as it gets as from there the path opens up and once out of the small housing estate you are on to a dirt road.
This is where our lack of research caught us out as after the first
0.5 Kms
you have about 3 Kms
of steady climb. Just seems to go on forever, but it takes you out into the lovely open countryside and 3.5 Kms
of nice gradual downhill which has a water stop at about 6 Kms
. At about 8.2 Kms
you meet the short killer uphill, but at least it is short. From there mainly downhill and back to where you came from. Small incline just before the school, but by then you can hear everyone cheering so pick up that pace.Brilliant 10K and rewarded via Facebook with lots of free pictures.
Getting in
Best to follow the Auchterarder Running Festival Facebook page for updates on when the race opens on EntryCentral. Seems to be easy to get in even close to race day.

Finish
Back at the school where they take real good care of you with water, biscuits, bananas, cakes , medals .. and the list goes on.
